I had a solicitor here yesterday

I saw this solicitor briefly a couple of weeks ago, and she came yesterday to take more details. It was about making a will, i've put this off for years 'cos i wasn't sure what to write and also i couldn't think of anyone who i could ask to be my executor. You see i'm here alone and have nothing to do with either of my sisters.  The solicitor was asking if there was anyone i trusted enough to come in the house if, i had a serious stroke or similar and couldn't get out. I said maybe a neighbour, but i felt that was to much to expect anyone to do, wiping my bum etc. That's not the type of help she meant, social services would do that, but i may need someone who i trusted enough to give than my bank card and pin number. The only suggestion seems to be a solicitor would take on those duties,

I wonder, is anyone else in a similar position, alone and finding it difficult to write a will. Hopefully i'lll fall off my perch quickly in the middle of the night and never need caring for.

  • If you have a specific person (eg a friend or family member) you want to be the beneficiary of your will you could also name them as the executor. If you really only have one beneficiary its quite convenient to do it that way. There's no rule against it and there can't be any real conflict of interest between the executor an beneficiaries if there is only one beneficiary. (#notlegaladvice)

  • The family members, my sisters i wanted to be especially named, to get nothing. They;ve already conned me out of many thousands of pounds. I think they both knew i was autistic long before  i did. They've know it was so easy to steal from me. I trust everyone.  I've named various charities to be the main  beneficiares,
