Sons ADOS assessment score of 8/9 what does this mean?

Hi

My son recently had his ADOS assessment, he didnt score on the communication side because he has great language skills, has humour but scored on the repetative behaviour and other areas

Hes now just had a DISCO assessment as they did recognise that his ADOS score might not have picked up all the issues we are helping him deal with on a daily basis however i've just had his pead review appointment through which was only meant to come through once he'd had all his assessments, the DISCO hasnt even been written up so i'm assuming they are making a decision based on his ADOS assessment and wasnt sure what 8/9 meant?

any help thanks x

  • I  can tell you from my 12yo's ADOS that it says the "cut-offs" for "communication, social interaction" and "restricted and repetitive behaviour" are 9 and 7 respectively.

As you son scored 8/9 it sounds as if he is inside the scoring for ASC, but do check this with the clinician.

I have read  the DISCO is more in-depth.
