Brightness

I've always struggled with brightness problems. I'm oversensitive to light of all kinds. All the lights in my house are dimming and I can only use my devices for a short time before my eyes feels like there burning. I'm a book fan but sold the kindle because the screen even on the lowest brightness was too bright . . . I remember crying when things were too bright when I was still small and whiney haha but it is more severe now for reasons unknown.

  • I just learned something new not too long ago - Our photoreceptors adjust to light level at different speeds, Rods adjust slowly and are used for seeing at night, Cones are for colour and have a quick response time for daylight. Someone colourblind to any degree, will use their Rods to compensate and this can be an underlying cause for difficulty with brightness. A quick, crude exploration of these - I'm sure there's more elegant ways to say it.

    Just found it interesting!

  • Good morning JFG.

I was prompted to think of you the other day when I saw these abominable LED "box/plate" surface mounted fittings.  I had never seen them before.

Thankfully, I do not seem to be not particularly affected by LED -v- halogen -v- tungsten emitted light (although all bright lights of every description hurt)....but I did think that these utilitarian horrors were especially nasty in absolutely every respect.

Anyhow - like you say - just found it interesting!
