Possible migraines?

Hi I'm new.

I have autism and am in my mid 20s. I've been suffering from headaches, tingling in my head, dizziness and balance issues and tiredness. I wonder if I'm getting migraines? I've had this for a few months, it's no worse, just frequent and it's draining. I suffer from anxiety especially medical anxiety which is why I've not been to a doctor yet. I thought I'd ask first to see if anyone else gets this.Laughing

I have generalized anxiety disorder and I know it causes a lot of these symptoms but I'm wondering if it is migraines as well as I get light sensitivity. Nothing really helps this except for resting and eventually it settles down a little but it's there most of the time. Headaches and tingling are worst, usually at back and on top of head keeps me awake at night.

Does it sound like migraines to you? I think it is but I do worry in case it's something more.

  • Hi, No these don’t sound like migraines to me. A migraine is mostly one sided, and very painful and throbbing. You wouldn’t be able to function for at least 2 days, and might start to recover from day 3. Some people see an aura, some have smell they notice before it happens. I get a tingly feeling in the bridge if my nose. Often, you can feel very sick,  be sick, or have a stomach ache too. There isn’t any dizziness or balance problems.

Your headaches sound like they might be anxiety or sinus related. Do you have an pressure in your face? I suspect because you are so anxious, you are tense all the time, and the neck and shoulders bare the brunt of it, leading to head pain. It’s probably better when you rest because you are more relaxed.

You could be sensitive to light which causes headaches, I have that too.
Dizziness and balance issues could be down to the sinus, but I think it’s more likely to be an ear issue.

I urge you to see or speak to a Dr. They will know much more than me,  and will be able to help.

  • Hi thank you for replying to me. I appreciate it I really do.

I think you're right about it being anxiety related and possibly sinuses too. I have swelling in my nose on the right nostril and I'm constantly bunged and congested so that probably isn't helping matters at the moment. But that makes me anxious as well! It's a nightmare. A total nightmare!

And yes pressure in my face at times, usually my cheeks and above or around my eyes. I get the pressure and pain all over my head. I'm going to try some meditation too.

I'm going to try and get in touch with doctor next week, just to make sure all is ok.

    Thanks so much.

  • Probably a good idea to get it checked it out, but if it is just congestion you might consider sudafed? I hate having a blocked nose and I was amazed by how well it worked. For me the pseudephidrine (or whatever it's called! The one that sounds fake, weirdly enough) not the other one, ie the tablets for blocked nose not congestion ease i think it was, but different people do respond differently. Also the nasal spray works for me. But not everyone gets on with either of these, I just suggest it because I sympathise with how horrible it feels to be bunged up. I hope this doesn't sound like a spammy advert! Other brands are available, or generics, haha.

I hope you feel better soon.

  • Hi there,

Thanks for your help and support with this here.

I got some anti congestion pills from chemist Boots and a spray for my nose.  Lol. Seems to at least help with my feelings of congestion yay but no improvement with my headache. I have since seen the doctor and she did bloods test which caused meltdowns and anxiety so I'm really tired now. It sounds like I might have scans as well I'm worried about that but trying not to worry about too much all at once.

    Thanks for replying to me.
