Digestion issues

Does anybody else suffer with digestion issues? I have loose stools and a lot of orange, yellow mucus. My diet food wise consists of sweets, bread and I drink only Cola so I think that's the cause but I've always done this and I can't bring myself to get out of the habit. But I'm in a lot of pain in my stomach and side. So painful. Sometimes I don't even empty bowel but when I wipe there's yellow, don't understand that.

Am I alone in this or is anyone else suffering like this?

  • I have bile acid Malabsorption after gall bladder removal, basically my gallbladder was only working at 4%. I was diagnosed with IBS years ago but was probably the failing gallbladder dripping bile continuously in my gut. I had yellow poop and I’d advise you to see your GP, it shouldn’t be yellow and runny. I’m now on bile binders and allowed 40% fat a day in my diet after not recovering from losing my gallbladder.

there might be something going on hun so get it checked

  • I have IBS, diverticular disease and lots of food intolerances. Abdominal pain is quite normal for me. I think that the mucus is a result of irritation and inflammation in the colon lining. Cola is probably one of the worst things you could drink, it contains phosphoric acid which robs calcium from your bones and teeth, if you drink nothing else, you could be at risk of developing osteoporosis. If it is diet coke, the aspartame sweetener it contains can cause problems, long term. A friend of mine had a distressing chronic cough and it was caused by the aspartame in the diet coke she drank, over a litre a day.

If you eat only bread, it is possible that you might have a gluten intolerance, or a baker's yeast intolerance. You can test this yourself by trying a few days of gluten free bread and/or soda bread, which has no yeast.

My food intolerances change over time, at the moment I cannot eat potatoes, leavened bread (yeast), pineapple, spinach, some types of fish or drink cask-conditioned beer (yeast).
