Has anyone else had this issue?

I noticed when I drink diet sodas (very specifically diet pepsi, its not as bad with diet coke and I have never had a diet dr. Pepper) my blood sugar just....tanks. like it'll be chillin in the 90s and suddenly within half an hour of drinking the diet pepsi my blood sugar is in the low 80s or sometimes high 70s.

It should be the opposite, right? Like even with the whole no 'real' sugar thing/no calories/etc it still has stuff that would probably raise the blood sugar a little bit, wouldn't it?

Am I just imagining things? Has anyone else had this experience with diet sodas?? I only got diagnosed in January so I'm still new to what will or won't effect my levels, sorry if its a silly question.

  • I have CKD, and they've told me in the hospital to stay ckear of all these sodas, standard or low-sugar, it makes no difference, especially the dark ones. The best thing you can drink to hydrate yourself is, water straight out of the tap. To make it a little less bland i put in a small squirt of lime or lenon juice.
