4 Year Old Won’t Eat

I’m getting quite worried about my little girl. She has been reducing her food intake all week, now is refusing to eat anything, today.

She has done a couple of loose stools this week, but they were 2 days apart.

Does anyone have any advice on who I should speak to? The health visitor won’t get back to me until Monday, so I’m stressing out, as she won’t even eat treats and things that she has never refused.

  • I might suggest starting with biology first.

Try a FODMAP diet. It is rich in all the vitamins and minerals children need without the allergens. Until you can get her tested, this can be the best safety net.

A gluten or fructooligosaccharide allergy will cause constipation. As can inflammation. Stick with natural sweeteners (coconut blossom sugar, date sugar, honey, maple syrup). And perhaps buy mineral rich bottled water for her to supplement tap water, as these minerals are excellent for staying hydrated. 100% juice and Fruit can actually be the best source of fibre if there are unknown allergies. Biona makes a red grape juice that might be good to help more immediately. Never give them chemically made sweeteners, which can really be problematic for children.
