my son now 9 was diagnosed with asd when he was 7, after 5 years of all involved. then i was told by a number of people/ health professionals that he is showing strong signs of adhd, which i knew anyway. thought i would leave it to them, didnt want to push and get false diagnosis. he is under mental health at the mo, as his behaviour has got very much worse. she said she can clearly see adhd. and said she would send me a connors questionair, and one to school. when i read it a 2 sided a4 listed form of the usuals 'yes all the time' to ' never at all' it was as though the list was written on my son, and all most all were ticked as i feel they meet my son. his school ta, who is only 20 yrs old. filled one in too. apparently from two forms they can say if your child has adhd or not, and since schools were all to the 'no' side, and mine at home all to the 'yes' side. they have said he hasnt got adhd. glad he hasnt, but yet confused as to how they can diagnose from mentioning he has this on a monday, from meeting him for the first time and staying for 30 mins, to telling me on the next week he hasnt got this. yet for a diagnosis for aspergers we had to have about 50 -100 different appointments over 5 years. how can they diagnose from a 2 sided form? so i called to ask, to get told this is how they do it. i was asked to see another mental health worker to be told they only have one for our town.
i am confused? any ideas what i can do/ where i can go?
