Autism and sleep!

Does anyone else find that they will suddenly go manic but not in a bipolar way, like in an extremely ressless overthinky way. Like you don't feel like doing anything over the top, you just start getting racing thoughts and you get insomnia really bad. I can be up with absolutely no sleep for nights in a row it really drains me. I'll think I've got to do this I've got to do that and if I don't sleep I can't do it, I have ocd really bad too. Does anyone else get this with your autism?

  • I'm not sure if what I experience is quite the same as you, but I think I can relate... too many thoughts in one's mind, which makes it difficult to drift off to sleep. When it results in prolonged insomnia, it can be most frustrating and unpleasant. I often think it would be useful if I was equipped with a remote control to switch my thoughts off when I'm trying to sleep. Sometimes my thoughts are related to stressful events, euphoric events, or are about completely random and bizarre things.
