  • Hi there Muhammed, I am a very late diagnosed adult, so no hands on experience with little ones, and of course your son is still very young, so you won't quite know how his traits will fully manifest just yet.

But, that said, I was once an autistic child. What I can say is that you need to strike a balance between protecting and over protecting him. My mother cried when I was diagnosed. She wishes she could have got some help for me. Me, I'm quite happy I got on with life regardless anyway. Given love, stability and understanding, many of us grow up to forge very successful lives for ourselves and are comfortable in our autistic identities. Others have greater needs and challenges and struggle to live independently, but we all have some talents and something to give the world.

As the little or big issues and challenges you face as his parents unfold, throw the questions at this forum. There will be a parent or two who will have seen the problem before, or an autistic adult who experienced it as a child.

What's your biggest concern at present?
