Life Admin

I wonder if anyone has any tips on how to get help with all my domestic admin.

I find my self at a loss to get started and my to do pile just keeps growing.
id happily pay someone for their time - probably need 2/3 days to start with and get things in order, but find myself unable to even know where to look for help.

I would prefer someone who has some knowledge about Autism and communication difficulties.

My sister suggested looking for someone who is studying Autism. But how do I look?

it’s becoming an increasing worry as am now incurring interest charges / penalties for late filings / payments.

I crumble every time I try to get started.

  • You can advertise for a carer to do cleaning jobs, then you can vet them as carers first. I worked through direct payments via the council for a disabled lady with suspected autism and her autistic son and she interviewed me with their disability/autism needs first and then asked if I was comfortable doing domestic jobs as my caring role. So I did cleaning, ironing, running baths etc so no personal care just general bits that she struggled with. She was looking for someone who could do domestic jobs but who had autism awareness (or was willing to learn). Personally I found it great, we were both entirely upfront with each other, she had a list prepared of what she wanted doing each time I went and whether it was on my own or with them and the structure was great. They told me if there was anything specific and the openness helped a lot. So for example her son could not stand hoover noise and I struggled with her hoover so I took my quieter lighter hoover with me and told him which room I was doing when so he could go to a different room. Eventually he started staying in the same room but it was always his choice and I always told him when I was turning it on.

Sorry long post! Just trying to say there is help out there that will work for you and maybe going the carer route might be helpful as not many people realise you can get carers to just do housework. People assume it's just for personal care/meds

  • I just bought a laminator and some printer ink and I intend to make laminated checklists of the things I need to do at different times of the day to organise my life. I struggle with simiilar things to you

Maybe something like that would help?
