People perceive us as ill
And challenge our capabilities
There is nothing sick about us
All people have their vulnerabilities
It's not just a difference
It's not a disease
Knowone is the same
And knowone has the right to tease
Your labled for this ‘thing’ and put onto a different side
Where we are kept separate from those neurotypical lives
We shouldn't have to explain
And Work so hard to exclaim
We people are just as valuable
We won't let them put us to shame !
We are the ones having to shout
To tell those uneducated enough, who don't know what we’re about
Who like to silence our voices, think we can change
And who can’t simply accept our slightly different ways
Some people don’t get us and it isn’t ok
As we have to mask it every day
There is nothing to be ashamed about, just those who don’t understand
Deeper feelings, extra sensitivities this difficult life in our hands
Who are you to say it’s bad
Be thankful your not the same
Although it may add more challenges
We all deserve help along the way
It comes with heavier understandings
Strengths no other carries
Don't ever wish it away
As we're special and we can leap over the barriers
Don't try to act similar or even the same
Cause people don’t get you
Just keep to who you became
They may treat us like outsiders
But we are the ones with the power
The knowledge and the help we can give to those around us
You can’t be any other way
So don’t try and pretend
But if people creep closer it’s your people you must defend
It shouldn't sum up ourselves, a word to influence our personalities
It's like an ingredient within us, not a label or con
Saying we won’t fit in, or are difficult is where there wrong
We will never change as its not going to fly away
There is no control over our feelings so others must learn about us today !
We need no separation just support here and there
People to listen and hearts to share
As knowledge increases, more and more of us appear
Meaning all must adapt and not just try to make our differences disappear
1 in 100 people, does that not say special to you ?
You can’t be yourself without this uniqueness too !
Working in a group, difference in routine
Loud noises, lights and sudden screams
Friendships, worry, eye contact and crowds
These are the things we live with and it’s why we are proud
Being intelligent is not about knowing all the math, learning all words in the dictionary, reading a map
It’s the attitude, understanding and support you give
For you can make people happy, make a spark of joy and make a memory to live with
They think you can’t do anything
Your treated like your limited
They say it’s a disadvantage
But so much more comes with it
To sum it all up
We are fine as we are
You all with simple brains [only accepting people like yourself]
Put us to shame and fail to give us help
Therefore, we have a present running through our veins
The definition for stupid is where you don’t know our names
All people with a dash of difference are all incredible
And the things we know are all spreadable
