CW Pregnancy/False positive

Hi I hope this is okay to talk about.

Has anyone ever had to deal with a false positive pregnancy test?

At the moment I am not 100% sure it's false, however I'm pretty sure it is. I used a first response test and they are notorious for dark indent lines.

It's a very very very faint line but doesn't look like there's any colour, however I haven't missed my period yet so who knows.

I can already feel myself unravelling at the thought of it being negative. I don't know why since I wasn't trying for a child, however for some reason it affects me so much when I get a possible positive then it turns out to be negative after all.

Do any mothers or want-to-be mothers have any experience? I get so upset

    Aww yeah,funny how emotions etc work, I’m guessing it’s not a reaction you expected to have. I was actually the opposite i'd been trying for my daughter for about a year and all kinds of swearing happened I saw the positive test!

    Yeah, I agree. I'm upset at how excited I got, at first I just saw a line and ran with it, but then I started looking again and realised it's probably just an indent.

    Excited over nothing. The worst Disappointed

    I'll just test again in a couple of days if I don't end up getting my period in time.

    Probably just a weird random thing, usually pregnancy related spotting will start when yours stopped. So annoying how little control we actually have over our bodies, can't just focus on a certain body part and know exactly what's going on with it!

    It was the early response first response, yes. 

    I think I checked around the 4-5 min mark so yeah, will probably be an indent. It just shocked me and got me excited for a minute.

    I’m sure I will end up getting my period, but if not I’ll test the day after it’s due.

    my cycle was regular this month, the only different thing was that I was spotting a lot from ovulation to about 8 days after ovulation. That never happens to me so I thought something might be wrong/pregnancy sign but could’ve just been random.

  • Is it the type of first response test you can use 5-6 days early? There is one with 45 second results that isn’t very sensitive at all. How long did it take for the faint line to show? If it took longer than 3 minutes than it’s probably an indent line. Unfortunately the only thing you can really do in these situations without getting a blood test is wait a couple of days and test again as the level of pregnancy hormones doubles every 48hrs in the early stages. I haven’t had any false positives myself, I’ve squinted at lots of negatives. My positive test was very strong but I had a weird cycle that month so it was actually 5-10 days after my period should’ve been due
