Help to get my complexly autistic daughter drinking and eating again

Hello,

I am hoping some of you may have some advice or help? My daughter is complexly autistic and currently in hospital after having severe tonsilitis.

My daughter is mainly non verbal, and is currently refusing to drink or eat anything that we give her. I was hoping that someone on here might have some helpful advice that we might be able to use to get her to drink and eat again so we can get her out of hospital.

Do you regularly eat with her, the same meals?

No we don't. She has a very basic diet and will only eat certain things, she also only drinks water.

I'm sorry, I don't have more to add... I'm not a parent, so I don't think I'm the best kind of person to ask, all I can do is add my own experiences from my memories of being younger...

She is 7, and goes to a specialist school. She only really eats more pureed dinner pouches, cheese spread sandwiches, Wotsits, Biscuits. We have tried her on numerous occasions with different things but she just declines. The difficulty for us at the moment is that she is still currently in hospital.

Try encouraging her to eat with you as a family, positive reinforcement and a normal dinner setting might prove to be beneficial. How old is your daughter?
