Hello, 

After months of discussion my husband has approached our GP regarding as assessment for autism but got nowhere at his phone consultation. 

Can anyone advise as the NHS website doesn’t provide much information at all as to the process and neither did the GP! 

Confounded

  • I had a similar experience when i went to the GP to discuss a possible assessment. He would not entertain the idea and kept talking about my depression, wanting to put me on a prescription for antidepressants. . I would say for your husband to just be persistent and don't take no for an answer. I kept going back for more appointments and kept telling my GP it was an autism assessment i wanted until he finally agreed. I was diagnosed 12 months later. Good luck to you both i hope you get there.
