Second Vaccine Pfizer

I'm due it.its been 12 weeks since first but I am too scared to have it.

I felt maybe a bit tired after the first but I was so anxious I refused to eat for three days in case it made me vomit. I Also had diarea, which isn't uncommon for me

But I was truly terrified.

Now I don't want the second dose because I have heard it can give very bad side effects.

I have zero support. I need to be able to drive and get out of my small house because I become quickly claustrophobic. And if I get bad side effects they may stop me from driving.. then I will be stuck in my prison and end up self harming my body, because I consider it my enemy, it's stopped me doing so much, and put me in so many bad situations, so I think the body might develop side effects just to punish me and trap me. When I feel the urge to self harm I always get in the car and drive away.. it's my way of coping.

I've spoken to both GP and mental health and they aren't interested at all

I have two dogs who need me to drive them to the park as well

I've spent an entire year petrified of covid. I avoid people and indoor spaces .but I don't want the vaccine to make me ill either.

I'm 48, female, autistic and have PTSD, anxiety, depression but no co morbidities.. is my risk really be that great if I.leave second dose for now? Id consider having another one next spring, a year after my first.. Just worries about side effects..even though every body I've spoken to has had no side effects, They don't have my nasty body or my lack of support network..

Please can anyone advise or even comment on their experience?

  • Cassiepippa, I'm not a medical pro so I feel uncomfortable offering advice. I suspect the only people who would know about whether you'd be at risk for waiting longer for a second dose would be medical pros who can interpret the studies on this. It may not be that bad to wait. I am sorry to hear how much stress and anxiety this alone has caused you, and all you're going through. I wish I could be of some use to say something genuinely helpful.

I wanted to add that, with respect to Caelus, they have some inaccurate information in their comment that could be a bit misleading. Vaccine companies cannot create a scenario where people would need to buy more products from them in future (not sure if Caelus intended this as a joke, though! I sometimes miss sarcasm!) Nor can they design something with the intent to only help one group but harm another. The processes to produce vaccines and drugs are intensely scrutinised. Also, vitamin D does not protect you from covid - if this was true, we would be getting vitamin supplements which are already available and cheaper, not a vaccine. Getting sufficient vitamins is a good idea, though, since this can support our immune systems to function optimally, but which ones you would need (if any) is something only a medical pro could help with.

  • My doctor won't even speak to me..I've visited several vaccine centres and tried speaking to staff but they weren't helpful either..

  • I'm sorry to hear this. I didn't mean to sound as though I was encouraging you to go back to speak again to people who haven't helped. I'm not sure what to suggest when it comes to who to speak with, only that your questions are best answered by people with sufficient qualifications and experience on the subject.

I don't know who would be most accessible to you - so these ideas may not be very helpful, either, but I'm putting them here in case one sounds good:

What about a local pharmacist? They can often help with bookable or walk-in confidential rooms to chat. They usually have more time, I've found ones local to me to be really friendly and impartial with their advice, which is refreshing. One local to me is really into holistic approaches. I suspect each pharmacist will be different, though, just like each doctor.

Do you have options to chat with different doctors to the one(s) you already spoke with?

There used to be a dedicated number to call about coronavirus vaccine queries, but I couldn't find it on an NHS website. I think it's 119 based on this information: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/119_(emergency_telephone_number)#119_in_the_United_Kingdom

  • My surgery actually make it near impossible to speak with any doctor..I don't even have an allocated doctor.. you just see whoever.. I will try and find some pharmacist to speak to. I just need someone to support me..but nobody will
