Period Anxiety

Hi, little bit of a tricky subject here.

I was wondering if there’s any other autistic adult women who have period anxiety? I struggle badly with the thought of periods starting when I’m in social situations or when I’m out and about. I am so worried about them that I start to wear period products up to a week before it actually starts (when I predict I will be on) to prevent myself being in embarrassing or stressful situations. I will be obsessive over how many pads or whatever I have available to me immediately and will be on edge all of the time until it actually begins.

Is this a common problem for autistic women or is it just me? How should I deal with it? And is it okay to use products before you’ve actually started that cycle? So anxious about it.

  • I can't tell you how much I recommend a mooncup.  I've never liked tampons but I think a mooncup is one of the best things I've ever bought. I use washable panty liners for the other days. You just soak them in cold water then bung them in the wash.

Sorry I can't help with the anxiety side of things but just thought I'd mention what products I use as I can't recommend them enough.
