Would you say these would be reasonable workplace adjustments?

1. Having advance access to a proposed new database in order that you can see it in action, test it out and get comfortable with its quirks before it is rolled out?

2. Having training in advance on new work that is being introduced? Again so that you can get comfortable with your understanding of what you will need to know?

I know these things are coming but haven’t had any advance access to them despite my employer knowing I’m Autistic and having asked to be advised and involved in such things from the outset.

What do people think?

  • There may not be a version you can play with until the whole thing goes live.- and then it's too late.     Have you asked what training will be available and how they intend to roll out the training.      An easy version is to go to multiples of repeating the standard training sessions - 1st time is a 'get the general idea', second is 'Ok, I think I see how this works' and final is the 'lets see if I'm understanding all this'.    That way, it doesn't cost or cause any real problems for either you or the company.

  • They’ve got the final version but the plan seems to be to put it in place with no training until it goes live but they’ve had a version that has been available for testing for several months.
I have heard the new system is very frustrating to work with and if that’s the case and I’m dropped into it, so to speak, I’m just going to panic if I don’t know what I’m doing. And as we are all working from home, the training is going to be very hard to go through, hence I’d really have liked to be involved from the very start.
