Anger issues

Hi, My son is 10 years old and has autism. He reacts very quickly to things and with anger. He screams and throws things. Ive tried to help him - telling him about deep breaths or walking away from things that anger him, giving him stress balls and fidget spinners to use. Nothing works so far. Im looking for any advice anyone has or ideas on ways I could help him manage or divert his anger, even until he is home and is in a safe environment to release it. Thanks

  • I have the same issue with my 14 y.o daughter in school and at home. She'll explode and shutdown at school then I have to pick her up. In school, teachers have been teaching her about emotions and triggers and warnings.

My teen takes herself upstairs to her bedroom when she can't cope or will explode. She'll use a weighted blanket and make the room dark, and play her favourite music quietly while she calms down.

When you're out, are you able to give him something to do, play on a tablet, take him somewhere else from whatever is bothering him?
