Is she masking it?

Does my daughter mask her autism? She behaves differently at her dad's and at mine.

She will never misbehave, be a picky eater, or complain about something being too loud or too bright at her father's. But here she will complain all the time about the food even tho she will eat it all at her dad's. She just spend 6 months living with him and no problems occurred there. Any idea if she is masking it?

  • I'm not sure.

It's possibly because she respects him. Or there are better boundaries.

Kids react differently towards each parent. I never bonded with my dad - he was always working - but then I was robbed of the chance to make amends, as he was killed in the 'Troubles' in 1989. But I was always close to mum. My brother - who was only six-months-old whenever dad was killed - was more his side of the family.

Please don't take it too personal.
