I want my covid vaccine

Apparently there is a certain group that autistic people and those with learning disabilities alone can be entitled to the covid vaccine.

Certain GP's are offering the covid vaccine to autistic people without underlying conditions. We rang the doctors but they said no. I feel really upset about this as having a complex needs is part of my autism diagnosis and am not on the register (I don't understand why my diagnosis is on my medical record but nothing has happened). I wish to know how I can get onto this register.

Some of my friends (also autistic and don't have any other known conditions) have had theirs or are having theirs soon. I feel really distressed as I am frightened of needles and have been through a lot of trauma but I still really want the vaccine.

I may even write to the local MP about this. I feel I have fallen through the gap as my autism affects my health both physically and mentally. I also feel I am at risk of discrimination.

  • I haven't heard of this before but I'm glad they are offering this. I'm having the same problem and I've also just started as a key worker and they cancelled my appointment for some reason. So I would probably write to the local MP too because it's awful that they said no.
