please help if you can, thank you in advance for reading.

Hi everyone. Was wondering if anyone can help. Was wondering if anybody knew about the learning /developmental part of autism. It's something  to do with the conscious part of my mind. That's where I need the help but I don't know which way to turn. I had a bike accident 16 years ago and this greatly affected my brain. I've struggled for as far back as I can remember. I know that I'm an introvert by nature, but I find myself feeling alone, even here. I'm finding the social part of autism very challenging, along with the developing the conscious part of the mind. I'm at that stage where everything becoming very difficult and I don't want to go back to my old ways. Can anyone help?

  • Hi Beckie.  I can't really offer any meaningful advice to you as, by the sounds of it, I'm in a similar situation myself with a complete lack of social life and no real prospect for that to change.  So I apologise in advance if this is a complete waste of your time!  Wiser people than I shall surely be along later with words of wisdom and encouragement, that's something you can count on here.

Generally, it seems like joining a club pertinent to your interest is the way to go, if you think that's something you could do.  Also look for any autism and/or LD related groups in your local area.  In my case I'm not even entirely sure what my interests are.  I mean there are lots of things that I do to kill time, sure, but they're things I do to amuse myself and I'm not sure I'd do them if I had a social life to attend to, or even how they can be applied to a social context without boring people to death.  In any case it'd likely take someone jabbing me with a sharpened stick to get me to actually attend, as anxiety just takes over.  Even thinking about it makes me shudder!

  • Hi Qliphoth. Thank you for you time, kindness and the information too. I could 'join a club pertinent to my interests'. I too have social anxiety,  at the moment it would be difficult to do... Well, I'll end this sentence now.. Neutral faceSlight smile
