Got diagnosis today

Well I'm in shock, had sons assessments today and they gave him the diagnosis of aspergers, we were told they would make a decision in Jan and we would know by February , but he scored so high in the tests they had no other options to discuss, he has a few other things they want to look into to do with speech and reading and something to do with processing images that they said where unusual for aspergers but wanted him to get his sticker now to help get support for school and college in September and sort the added bits out ASAP, got about 20 teachers and peds drs that I'd like to line up and say I told you so, to. He's 15 we have been questioning his traits etc since he was 5 but kept getting told to stop being neurotic and leave him alone, I hope there are a few people that through this take a bit more notice when a parent has concerns. Looking forward to a lovely quiet, stress free Christmas with my lovely family.

  • Tell me about it, every parents evening " your son is a model pupil, he's so lovely" and I always replied " yes I know he's lovely I live with him, now tell me how he's coping in your class". They would tell me he was always willing to ask questions, but when asked if he was asking a variety of questions or the same one they couldn't remember, I asked them to record the difference in him if he was sat at the back or front of the class, alsorts, I just kept questioning them.

        They had a right go at me after my son went on a 3day school trip, saying there can't be anything wrong or he wouldn't have gone, I pointed out that the 1st thing they did when we booked it was to send through an itinerary with all the activities and times on it-perfect. God help them if they had changed it without saying!!. 

      Keep chipping at them, mine only changed when I got my cahms referral, school just want rid now, they said they didn't know what they would do if he was diagnosed aspergers, I suspect they will do nothing unless prompted.
