Does anyone else get this?

Hi, I’m Sky and I’m in my 20s and dealing with an issue which I assume is related to Aspergers and likely anxiety which is something I’ve suffered from for a long long time.

This particular issue is fairly recent though and it’s really getting to me now. A few months back I woke up early feeling really hot and my head was swimming. I couldn’t sit up and I felt sick. I had to stay laying down for about two hours and then gradually as the day went by it recovered. After that my head was ok, until the start of last month. Now every day I seem to have a dizzy sort of lightheaded sensation which comes and goes, usually worse in the morning, not too bad in the afternoon and then starts to feel odd again into the night.
It’s a mixture of dizzy/lightheaded, almost feeling like motion sickness and a headache which feels like tightness/pressure which is usually in my forehead but can be at the back and sides of my head as well.
It’s super annoying because this alone causes me to feel anxious and worry but also when I’m out now I can hardly stand to travel in the car for more than ten minutes because it makes me feel so rough. And when I’m out walking at times I feel like I might lose balance and fall. A part of me is worried that it might be a brain tumour. My mum had one and as I fell and hit my head hard several years ago at the back I do worry it might be related to that. But at the moment doctors aren’t seeing us where I am so not really sure what to do.

Does anyone else suffer from this? Or do you think it might be more serious?

Thanks, Sky.

  • Hi Sky, as Azpie said - it could be a host of things, it sounds to me that we are quite similar in that we look for the worst case scenario first (in this case brain tumour) and whilst I can’t rule it out, I can say that basic rules of probability make it unlikely. This said you do need to get checked out, assuming you are in the UK you can call the NHS on 111 for advice or contact your GP. As this has been going on for a while I recommend you act sooner rather than later. It would also be worthwhile to discuss his it’s affecting your anxiety. If I can be of any assistance or if you just need a chat to try and shift some of that anxiety just drop me a message and I’m happy to do what I can :)

  • It could be a number of things but sounds likely to be related to your blood pressure and / or possibly anemia so it does need to be checked out by a medical professional but if your gp is not willing to see you face to face to check you thoroughly then I'm not sure what else to suggest other then ringing 111 for advice.
