Covid19: Told must not go out, make phone calles

Yet again a GP's don't understand my issues with Autism. They call me (which told them not to do) about my medical issue and being someone with Asthma and tell me load things I should not do. They had issue with me during the call, I found difficult to talk during the telephone call (which why I told them before never to call me).

They told me I am moderate risk group (What ever that is).

Not to go out side for 12 weeks

Not go to work location
Not go to shops

Not go to pharmacy

etc

There solution is list phone numbers, to get support. I might as well go up to someone and speak in Klingon beacause this would end up in the sameway. They would just understand everything I am saying.

I have autism and I have issue with phone's! This is nothing new, I writen before even here about my issues with telephones. In fact it point that is metioned upon in my ASC diagnosis report that I have issue with telephones. I have letters sent to me from my then GP (20 years ago) about issues I have with telephone. I have big issues with telephones. I can just about deal family and very close frends just about on the phone.

There are lot of us like me who have autism and that telephones are issue, one day they get it.

Until then I will have to go to shops and pharmacy myself.

  • Hi. I'm sorry to hear you're struggling and that the GP isn't very understanding. I've heard that some GPs are offering a video service - maybe you could ask if that's available?

Also, I've heard that NHS volunteers are helping to deliver medication for people who have to shield for 12 weeks; it might be worth having a look for the scheme online to see if you can get that help. You should also be able to get priority online shopping delivery slots if you're shielding (I spotted another post on this forum saying that Sainsbury's are offering this).

I hope you're able to get some support and that things improve for you soon.
