Finding a good GP. doctors in general

Hi forumites, is this something ASD people in general have to deal with?

For many many years I have struggled to find a good GP. I've met the odd one in a practise then ended up being lobbed with a bad one.

I've changed GP a few times and it seems like finding a good doctor in general is like finding a needle in a haystack. I thought it was important to have someone you trust as a doctor - I think either it's my ASD as can't cope with the normal human complexies of interaction or a lot of people are generally putting up with crappy doctors.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this - is this something you've dealt with? If so how did you deal with it?

I feel like healthcare settings more often than not are very narccistic rather than genuinely caring. Sometimes I'm not annoyed I find by no or curtness but the fact there's no kindness behind it.

How does a reasonable intelligent adult find a good doctor?

  • I think the problem isn’t so much the doctors but the systems they work on as there are not enough GPs, they are forced to rush appointments so as they can see everyone that day, this results in a very direct consultation which makes them seem less caring but in reality it’s just the way they have to be to function with the workload they have.
