medication for anxiety?

Hi

I'm new to the forum. I'm 21 (almost 22!) and I've recently been diagnosed with aspergers, my question is do any people here also have anxiety use medication to help cope with it? What are you perscibed? And does it help?

I posted this under another topic but then realised it will be better in here!

thank you Smile

  • super-meg,

that sounds like a good approach. I think medication only covers up the problems. Nothing is solved. Using them as the sole strategy when dealing with Asperger related problems just implies that the doctor thinks that an Asperger way of thinking and seeing is wrong and that NT thinking is right.

Anxiety and depression are natural responses to certain situations and factors that bother us. It tells us something is wrong and should lead to practical change and hopefully further our undersatnding of ourselves.

So why does my doctor only offer me Citalopram? I guess thats the only tool he has.
