:( bit lost for end of 2019- pain management

Been having pain for three months and after some scans and consultations I've learned nothing can be done to help me- it's not life threatening. I was a bit shocked because I was expecting to get an op date when seeing the consultant this week and wasn't expecting this.

So I'm rather down abit thinking being an important year for me to end like this. I'm going to have to think about ways to manage the pain- in itself anxiety inducing. I might have to cut back on my cycling and look at changing lifestyle in some ways- in itself anxiety inducing again!

But, press on and has to be managed of course somehow.

Just to say thanks to all here, it's a great forum and so very supportive and friendly. Have great holidays all.

  • Hey, I’m so sorry you’ve been left to suffer like this; that must be terribly draining physically, mentally and emotionally.

Those NHS suggestions for pain management are a good starting point for sure, although as auties I know we sometimes respond differently to neurotypicals because of our wonky internal wiring. I’m not sure what kind of pain it is, but for me I find that my generalised pain was helped a lot by keeping well-hydrated (with electrolytes as needed), avoiding sugar (including fruits) and carbs, and using Epsom salts in the bath. I find my localised pain is best helped with massage (either self-administered or by a soft tissue/remedial massage therapist), and either ice packs or heat pads.

Really hope you can find something that works for you. Take good care. Xx

  • It has been very wearing. I feel better about it a week on. Today, I happened upon freeze gel which might help. Its going to be difficult to manage because its in a place which gets pressure all the time (thankfully it never hurts when I lay down to sleep).

I do drink my water daily and have cut sugars. Actually what might help is to put some weight on too. I've had to big-up my saddle recently because I'd cut the sugar and lost a lot of fat in the seating area.
