My 13-year-old son has developed sleep problems. He takes to his bed to avoid things he finds difficult/stressful.
This has damaged his sleep patterns and now he is not getting up to go to his special school.
He dismisses discussions about resetting sleep patterns, agrees to get up and go to school but come morning refuses or is unable to wake up.
Anyone out there with a magic wand.
Hi NAS49964,
I'm sorry to here about your son's sleep problems. You might find this link to the sleep advice pages on the National Autistic Society website useful. Whilst it seems that this is triggered by stress, there is some advice here about resetting healthy sleep patterns:
https://www.autism.org.uk/about/health/sleep.aspx
I hope this helps,
Chloe Mod:)
Hello, Thanks, we have been following the NAS advice along with the sleep guidance from the NHS. it is very frustrating though as his school attendance has now stopped completely for two weeks
