Assessment tomorrow

Well, it's rolled around to assessment date. I'm meeting with a general paediatrician. Not sure what to expect. Will the assessment lead to a diagnosis or a referral to a specialist or will he be able to tell me there's nothing to worry about if she's not on the spectrum? I think my biggest worry is she has bits of different things (Aspergers/tourettes/OCD) that she isnt high on the scale of any one thing to be diagnosed but from my point of view, all three together albeit mild, are a problem (sigh). Really don't know what a general paed can diagnose. Also not sure what I want the result to be! A diagnosis I believe will be a positive thing as hopefully it will mean help won't be far away if dd needs it. A diagnosis of she's fine and not  ASD means she's my funny strange quirky lovable girl she has always been.

Does anyone know how far a general paed can go on the diagnosis side of things? We live in wales, maybe things are done differently in different areas? Oh we'll I suppose I'll know a bit more tomorrow. Nervous, worried, glad app is here and hoping for best for dd.

  • Thanks crystal, I know, maybe I worded it wrong. I wouldn't change her one bit! I just worry that as she gets older people wont get her like I do and I hate to think of her as unhappy. Sometimes I think that if she has Aspergers and is diagnosed anyone who doesn't understand her may have more time for her quirkiness if she can say I'm an aspie and proud, it's understood a lot more these days I'd like to think! Not sure if what I'm saying makes sense or not. I appreciate your comment :)
