4 yr old daughter- social communication disorder?

Hi,

My 4 1/2 yr old daughter is undergoing assesment at the moment. She has just had her first pediatric appointment and we have recieved a letter sumerising what is happening.

She definately has problems and has also been diagnosed with hypermobility and is being refered to a physio. They also are going to do blood tests for 'fragile X chromosomes'

In the letter they refer to a possible 'social communication disorder'??? Are they talking about ASD/Autism or not? They want her to go for full assesment.

Anyone who can give me any further info on any of these would be great.

Thank you,

shelley xxx

Jojo my daughter does sound a little different. She has more of the behavioural problems but has very high speech (sounds like and adult), although they think it may be mimicked and that she doesn't understand language as well as she can use it. Glad to hear you'd heard the term though.

I have looked into fagile X syndrome and I'm not expecting it to come back positive but you never know with these things.

Thank you Crystal, I have left a voicemail with our Pediatrition as she said I can call to ask questions so I think I will! I'm just hoping she'll be able to get the multi disapline assesment, thats the one her pediatrition wants but she is right on the age border for it, if not she'll have to go through her school phyc which I'm told is an even longer process (she starts school next week, eek!)

Thank again guys, so great to have people to talk to on here
