Hi my sone has recently been diagnosed with ASD, as I was on this site looking at all the information I came accross aspergers and ADD well it was like reading my own autobiography. I took an online AQ and I scored 44/50, I am 38 and I have been suffering with depression for as long as I can remember (before my teens). I had an appointment with my psychiatrist today and explained that I felt I fit into this category and told him my score. Now he has refered me to psychological services 3 times already but I always end up missing or forgetting the appointment. My psychiatrist exoplained to me today that he had refered me there because he had already come to the conclusion that there was more going on with me and that my depression is not typical and is likely to be a symptom of some other problem. Although he is going to ask that I am tested for aspergers he also said that there are several other dissorders that have similar characteristics to aspergers so there will be an assesment to find out which I have. I am now worried about what I might have wrong with me, can anyone suggest anything that you know has similar characteristics to aspergers and ADD. I have looked at personality dissorders and I don't feel I fit into those as much as I do aspergers. Any help or advice will be very very welcomed. xx
