List for GP advice

I'm going to my GP to ask to be referred so I've decided to make a list to explain why I think I may have Asperger's. Just looking for advice on what to say and if my list looks ok

*Unable to interact with people without panicking

*Painfully shy

*Unable to make eye contact at all

*Can't make friends, at the moment I have none

*I freak out if my routine is changed, even if plans have been changed I freak

*I cannot stand being touched by anyone

*I get extremely irratated if something isn't completely perfect, if there's one tiny flawI can't accept that thing.

*I can't control how loudly I talk

*Complete lack of empathy

*Brutally honest even to a point it hurts people (they tell me they are hurt because I didn't know)

  • Hiya v23. 18 year old Aspie here, diagnosed almost a year ago now. :)

My advice, make it completely blatently and simply OBVIOUS for your GP that you NEED help. Not just a 'ok, well, we'll send out the paperwork'. Otherwise, it'll take months. I got refered to CAHMs for my OCD tendancies, and I was fast-tracked because I admitted to suicidal thoughts.

....yeah...their version of fast-tracked ended in a six month waiting period to be assessed and diagnosed. So, just stress how important it is to you that you need this diagnosis to recieve the help to function in everyday life, otherwise, they might take forever.

Good luck and best of wishes.

P.S. Can relate to a lot of points on your list, definately sounds like some form of autism to me, possibly High Functioning Autism/Aspergers Syndrome. If I were you, say to the GP you think you have a form of Autism. Most of the GP's in my area need me to actually explain what Aspergers is, whereas they've all heard of Autism, and take it more seriously. Its probably a subconcious thing but still, may speed up their process or at least make them take you more seriously.
