Adult Referral Problems.

Hi, I went to see my GP back in mid April about a referral to a psychologist for AS. She agreed it'd be wise for me to see someone, and said she'd refer me. We reached June and I'd heard nothing, turned out she'd forgotten, so sent it off early July.

Up untill last week I'd then heard nothing again, it turns out they gave the place they'd referred me to the wrong contact details. Anyhow, after a few phonecalls to where I'd been pointed to call, I only speak to receptionist and no one more, and I am told I'm being put through for CBT/Councelling.

I'm rather concerned by this because it feels like they've decided what to do with me, without ever actually meeting me. The only time I've spoken face to face with a person, or even at all about my difficulties, is when I briefly outlined them to my GP when she referred me.

Does this seem normal for a diagnosis, or should I be looking to see a psychologist before going straight in to CBT/Councelling?

Thanks!
