can you tell me what my score means

hi

I came here to know what my score means as the diagnosis letter is a load of junk.

aq = 33

eq = 26

cast = 23

thanks for all your help

  • thanks for the people who replied

    I been to see a nhs physchiatrist one in front of me and another in the corner and the occupational therapist in the middle. I saw her the first time when i filled in that questionaire of a billion questions lol. we got that shitty letter than doesnt say *** all about you its just a shitty score. I am going to ask for a more detailed report i believe i do have a anxiety issue when i do go into social situations and have a problem paying attention. like the previous posts said the cast is a load of *** im 32 not 12 and my biological mother got a divorce from my dad when i was 5 so i guess she knew the early stages of my life.

    but thanks for all your replies greatly appreciated.

  • If it is not possible for you to have a parent there, or feel they would be misleading in your diagnosis there other means of testing but it seems that it depends on where you go for your diagnosis as to whether they can offer these alternatives.

    Odiously some people may not have any parents still alive so they are either given one of the alternatives or they get a kind of incomplete diagnosis (it has a special name but I cant remember what it is called right now) You are still officially classified as being on the spectrum though. They are kind of saying you are on the spectrum but we cant be 100% sure as there was no parent present.

    If you feel that having your father there would be detrimental to your diagnosis then say so and see what they say.

    Personally I think the CAST test should not be used with adults and should just be used when diagnosing children.

  • The CAST test really worries me. For me they would only be able to ask my Dad. He's 75, doesn't believe in mental illness and, like spektral, mixes me up with my brothers. It also bothers me how an assesment can be made on anecdotal evidence?

  • CAST or Childhood Autism Spectrum Test. I assume this test was done by your parents or guardians?

    The maximum score you can achieve is 31. The higher the score the less autistic traits you showed as a child. The current cut off for ASD's is 15.

    I dont like this test very much. How I remember my childhood is very dfferent from how my Mother remembers it. She also associates events with me, that actually happened to my brother.

    I dont really see how this test is that valid in an adult. In my case my Mother was answering questions about how I behaved 17 years ago.

  • 'aq' is 'Autism/Aspergers Quotient' - and anything above 32 is indicitive of a high probability of having Asperger's or being on the Autistic Spectrum.

    'eq' is 'Emotion Quotient' - and, iirc, 26 is fairly average.

    Note: these tests are not in and of themselves diagnostic tests and no given set of scores definitely means you do have Asperger's, or are on the Autistic Spectrum, or not - they just indicate how likely it is that you are.

    'cast' I'm not aware of.
