I hear music I like. Then it goes through my head hour after hour, week after week. I wake up in the middle of the night and i hear the music.
I check the internet to find out who played it and when.
I then find the tunes on YouTube and play the video.
It turns out that all four tunes I hear, were hits in the early 1970s
At the moment i am hearing no 2. I have just woken up from one of my recurring nightmares where I am about to fail a college course because I haven't attended the lectures.
That sounds like such a creepy thing to wake up to! Do you have quite vivid dreams?
I get both songs I love and songs I hate playing in my head.
Today I woke up from my nightmares with the words from a Meatloaf song going throughy head.
" You took the words from out of my mouth, while you were kissing me"
I have songs in my head pretty much constantly. Usually a song is playing alongside two separate trains of thought and sometimes pictures too. And people wonder why I get headaches :/
My current earworm is Cheesecake Truck by King Missile. My phone wants me to write "earthworm" for some reason. My current earthworm is Cheesecake Truck by King Missile.
I get earworms most of the time. That's not usually a problem, but I'm also a musician for various things. Rehearsals can be a bit of a problem if I'm playing one tune, then in a brief break my mind wanders off onto totally irrelevant tunes (usually from different genres) that become ear worms. Then I've forgotten the tune I'm meant to be playing - argh. But as NAS38983 suggests, I can change the ear-worm to something more acceptable if it's getting annoying. Such as the 'middle 8' from Mouldy Old Dough - I now need to get rid of that one ASAP!
I currently have a Teddy Bears Picnic mindworm thanks to the effing ice-cream van that keeps coming down my street...
The actual tunes don't bother me. They are my current favourites. And they block out negative thoughts.
But they also block my mind from thinking and dealing with reality. And the cruel outside world.
If the tunes bother you, try replacing them with another song. Preferably one you like ️
It is the only thing that works for me...
Numbers 2 and 4 are big favourites of mine.
