constipation and tummy massage

HI my daughter aged 10 has been suffering for constipation for years and I know it can be a trate or something that is related to her autism. But after try everything we always seems to be going back to square one. She eats well. I herd that u can do some sort of tummy massage to help. Has anyone tried it?? Does it work and how can I found out where to start learning how to do it as medication is ginving me a headache lol. Any suggetsions welcome.

    The tummy massaging you speak of is really easy to do.

    Using the ball of your palm, starting at just below the belly-button, gently press and move, in a clock-wise direction, horizontally to the side, then straight up the side, till you get to the ribs, then initially horizontally, but as you approach the center-line, dip down a little towards the belly-button, then back up as you approach the ribs on the other side, then straight down, to just above the hip, and then horizontally along to the belly button again.

    If you look at this picture:

    what you're aiming to do is simply to encourage movement around the Large Intestine (Colon) which sits in front of the small intestine.

    (I know this, by the way, because I have Crohn's Disease (an inflamatory bowel disorder) and some of the medication I have taken for it in the past has caused mild constipation - so have used this massage technique on myself, and can tell you that it does help)
