Aspie Women (and guest visitors)

Been good to hear from any adult ASD diagnosed women in this forum... or does anyone know any good sites for ASD women? What are your experiences?

...previous thread clogged as now months into its lifespan) ,.....

  • Good question.....I am currently residing in an Aspie hole, Spotty I suspect is hibernating in her shell...(not the best time of year for an active tortoise)...Missy is probably out adventuring....the others....I cannot account for x

    how are you?

  • Good evening to all. I write this post in light of recent events (5-11-2017).

In my previous post, I stated that I "retract" what I said concerning the differing TITLES of a Thread being the fault of NAS. To retract a statement does *not* imply the *opposite* of the statement...

And then, as I read the "other Threads" I see that they were started by different users (unless what I read is incorrect)? Thus what I mean to say is that, difficulty in following all of this is NOT the fault of any one person in particular.
(...Although it would certainly help if NAS showed Timelines and/or Authors (Starters), upon that "Related" bar, but they do not.)

The fact that I started a thread and then called the next one by the same name +"#2" was suggested to me by another member (Oktanol).

    --------------

Another topic altogether. As I read the previous Threads, it seemed to me that they were maintained as if to keep them from dropping into obscurity... that is, *DAILY postings*, kept them pertinent and in public view, to best attract NEW visitors. If I am correct in that assumption, then although I may understand it, I could never do this for myself... my devices are too old/slow, and, well, as you can see, my mannerisms would scare off a lot of persons (!).

Anyone who understands this post, and replies to it... as usual, I am grateful, and please do not tell me off too harshly for any erroneous presumption. Thank you kindly. That is all for now.

  • I am a new, CONSPICUOUS visitor/guest to this thread. All I request in this post is, if it is not someplace here already, can you please post a "LINK" to your stated as "clogged" "previous thread"; or specify "keywords" for entering into the SEARCH box... because I cannot find it.

(I blame NAS and not you, for making it difficult to find, so this post is not a slight at you, only a request (...!). Good evening to one and all, in any case.)

...if this post shows up twice, then apologies and it was accidental (!)

  • And some of the positives of ASD (if you transpose the letters spells sad)...

  • I believe my eldest daughter is on the spectrum and her boyfriend too.the more I learn about it the more I am sure.

Maybe this is an uprising,we can teach the non thinking greedy people who currently make the decisions how wrong they are Lol.

  • I also suspect that my dad and brother are as well....and my first husband probably......can’t seem to shake you guys off! Lol.....well done for going to the doctor x

  • I can’t remember if I updated you lot, but I’ve been to the doctors and asked for an assessment.  I have to fill out another questionnaire and then, if I meet the threshold, I will be referred.

I mentioned it to my brother and was quite surprised by his response- he’s autistic (not sure if self diagnosed or not), and we both firmly believe my Dad is on the Spectrum too.  I know my mother showed some traits but she died last year. So, after doubting myself and wondering if I was autistic, it looks as though my entire family are!

  • This is so interesting to me...I read somewhere that there is a theory that Aspies fall in introvert/extrovert categories. I don't know if there is any truth in that but I seem to have shifted from being very outgoing to being much more relaxed when alone or with just my husband. I love being around the children in the extended family (no fear of judgements I guess) but that's not exactly relaxing! Much happier (or just less stressed?) alone, truth be told. I think that having such a bad menopause has provoked this. It could be that it is socially very difficult to deal with bad hot flushes - for 11 years - but I feel there must be a more profound link than that. My memory is not what it was either and I put that down to menopause. I and my GP have tried everything for the hot flushes. The only thing left seems to be Gabapentin but I think that might be addictive. So I don't go to work anymore and see very few people socially and have stopped doing further education courses and just meander through the days...

Like you, I think the menopause has made autistic traits much more pronounced. Even I noticed them! When I mentioned autism to my husband, he was much less surprised at the idea that I might have it than I was!

Anyway I'm rambling. But I'm so glad to have found this site.

Mn mr tired LW you are very very far from thick. Dyslexia gives you a disadvantage but it does not mean you are thick. You know lots of stuff. I don't have a special gift and only average academically and it's not about that really it's the fact that it's so patchy .. one minute I can think of an answer the next I can barely drag words out of my mouth. I couldn't remember my phone number todayfor example. And you can drive and handle all those big yellow beasts trucks and diggers and things which sounds really exciting . Are you waiting to go collect your wife? ()x

  • I appear to be surrounded in scholars and learned people? Better run for my life, brings back memories of teachers argh, only joking, So I am the only thicko here then, So how come me being autistic and not having any special gift?

according to some sources we Apparently each have a super power,,,,, oh just realised mine! The ability to make people fall asleep using only my voice Lol.

I did have a BA but that only lasted three days? Wore it on my back and it was flipping heavy .a whole lot of air.

can you tell I am tired? Yawn,

    xxx

Me too my degree was years ago. I keep wondering what it would be like now with laptops and the internet wow! Family have or are doing  MA's band ph'ds etc but unless it was something I was passionate about .. often I found they were just looking for essays which fitted the box and same with MA's it's only when you get to phds you can really start to explore. If you want to put your thinking cap on look at the other thread I'm in I'm getting in the mire.

  • If I hadn't forgotten how to use academic laguage (a fact I'm quite happy about), I could probably do quite a good job of that.

I was really interested in going back to do my PhD without speaking 'artspeak' b******* but it won't happen now.

Bill and Ben! I had a wooden puzzle of Parsley and the Herb Garden but don't really remember the programme. Fingerbobs (which had Fingermouse) was quite odd, I remember a tortoise but not what it was called. Relaxed
