We use Skype Message as SD16s preferred communication method on our smart phones. Still working on her having a smart phone because her mother keeps telling her she will lose it, and so she's too scared to even try my hand me down phone from work worth about twenty dollars.
It's about trying to get as many people as possible to accept your preferred communication method. I have trained most work colleagues to use email or text not verbal communication for work matters but it does require being assertive
