Help! Are there any women in this Community with ASD

Been good to hear from any adult ASD diagnosed women in this forum... or does anyone know any good sites for ASD women?

Hello out there......anyone????

Re FB vs. here. There are other options including Google Plus and Tumblr as well. I'm pretty comfortable with any or all, as I started moderating some early forums in 2003 and have been a mod on a heavily locked down board to support male survivors of domestic violence for 7 years now. They all have produced and cons.

As a temporary measure I suggest we do "date in reverse order ASD women" threads for now - I think I'm the earliest to get the day unless we have someone from Samoa lurking :-)

  • Hi ladies

one thing I am keen on is making sure that we are easily findable for other women as this has been positive experience for all of us....

  • Morning, happy Monday Elephant, and hello quirky friend. I have gone off and joined 2 Facebook groups. I just want to find what I need to know, make friends, not feel like the weirdo, not feel like I have to edit myself, worry about going on, saying too much, be myself, I guess it was me talking about Facebook mostly and I just wanted to say how refreshing this feed is and I, glad I have found you all. My 1st appointment to discuss wether I meet the criteria for assessment is 10th Aug. I'm writing things down in a notebook. I read the tania Marshall link today and cried most of the way through it. I really do feel like my eyes have finally been opened and everything really does make sense, but there's also a worry in the back of my head that medical professionals will say I'm wrong....but I know. I really know that I am autistic!

Its really difficult when our worlds shrink so much when we try so hard. Are there any of the Nas groups/services  in your area that you could tap into? Some areas have lots and others like here none.

  • Just my husband and my dad....the rest of my family stopped talking to me three years ago. No friends.

Hello Welly glad you found fb groups you liked the sound of and they will probably offer broader experience and views and more friendships. And Ele it's hard trying to engage family in this.. apart from your husband do you have anyone you can talk to sister aunt or friend? I'm having issues with one of my brothers .. This is the first place I have felt able to talk freely too but in the usual way of things because it's been bottled up Im too intense. The Tania Marshall check list was an eye opener and helpful.

  • Hi Welly..

good to hear from you, as always....I know what you mean about the Tania Marshall list....I tried to explain to my husband where my head is at during the weekend....which just resulted in reading out to him Tanya's list.....I don't think he got it, or what I meant....that's the problem of trying to communicate about yourself and what it all means...

glad you are taking notes...and well done for getting an appointment. How long did you have to wait? Are you going solo or do you have someone to support you?

keep searching girl.....and keep in touch
