Call centre...

I work, albeit by accident rather than design, in a very small call centre. I'm sure I have Asperger's, but am just about to start requesting assessment.

It is an unusual occupation for an Aspie. I'm very short on niceties with customers, but great on details of the product.  However, it can be so irritating dealing with the nattering and noise in the office.

Today was wonderful. I bought some noise-cancelling headphones that plug into both the computer and the phone system.  Glory be I can concentrate at last!  They were expensive but so worth it!

  • I worked in a call centre for INTERNET support back in the 2000s. Mostly My ability to ignore emotional data from myself and the customer and my ability to run complex simulations in my head made me a very good phone tech. I did not get flustered, angry or irritated and if the customer did I was able to cut through it and solve the problem. This was 2 decades before I was diagnosed. Whilst I didn't have anti-noise headphones back then, I was stoned most of the time so it may have had the same impact.
