  • Sorry that should read ..get the contracts for assessments done by atos removed! Thanks again and good luck

  • Hi, you need to appeal. You'll probably win. Also please sign my petion to get the contract for assessments done by atos. Its on the 38 degrees website. Lets get rid of them and get some people who have some understanding of autism and other conditions doing things right. Please sign and share. Good luck and thanks.

  • Hi, I don't know what to do or how to cope.. am in such a state.  Today i received the dreaded brown letter from DWP informing me i have been turned down for PIP, they even scored me 0 points out of a possible 12 points for communicating! and only 2 points for mixing with others even tho i have autism and severe social phobia andthe fact that commicatiing and mixing with others are my main problems.  As it is i started the application process back in february and it has caused me such an unbeleivable amount of distress, upset and anxiety as it is..even having to be put on sedatives because of it all...especially the face to face assessment... I really cannot take anymore.  My parents are going to help me appeal but i don't know how im going to carry on coping with it all as it is making me so ill..

I'm just wondering if there is anybody else on here who has been turnt down for pip and had to appeal and how it went and how long the appeal process took etc

Any replys would be very helpful thank you

  • Hi Craigmason71,

I have listed some information below of some services which you may find useful for PIP appeals:

    Welfare Rights Service

They are available to offer you advice and information on what benefits you may be entitled to, general advice on completing claim forms, and what to do if you think a decision is wrong and appeal to a tribunal.

To use our Welfare Rights Service, you'll need to book a telephone appointment, which you can do by email: welfare.rights@nas.org.uk. Please include your age (or the age of the person in question), details of your benefits query, and tell us where in the UK you live. We aim to reply within 10 working days.

You could also book an appointment by calling our Autism Helpline 0808 800 4104 (Monday-Thursday 10am-4pm, Friday 9am-3pm) or by filling in our contact form: http://www.autism.org.uk/services/helplines/welfare-rights/contact.aspx

Please also see the direct  following link for further information on the Autism Helpline:

    http://www.autism.org.uk/services/helplines/main.aspx

I hope you find this information helpful.
