Council Tax Reduction

Hello

Originally I paid no council tax, due to being a single mother & receiving severe disability benefit for myself. But my LA (Wokingham, Berkshire) changed their policy last year, so that everyone apart from OAPs must pay at least 10%. They've now changed it again for this year & everyone apart from OAPs must pay at least 20%. Is anyone else in a similar position?

  • Perhaps see if you are entitled to claim for Council Tax Exemption on grounds of Severe Mental

    Impairment (SMI) - as includes learning disabilities, social functioning issues and severe or chronic

    mental iillness. You will need a GP's or Specialist's verification if an SMI exemption is relevent for

    you.
