I'm going to be a college graduate shortly and my mother is highly concerned about me being able to succesfully find and keep a job because of my aspergers and anxiety disorder. To be frank, she's making me feel entirely incompetent. I feel that if I was on SSI benefits, it'll be even more difficult for me to obtain a job because the employer would know that I had a disability and would assume me uncapable. I also feel like being on SSI benefits would be like having a bad credit score as it will follow me around everywhere and destroy my confidence. I have explained this to my mom clearly and more than once but she wants me to have it anyway so that way she wont have to worry about me being broke and unemployed following graduation. Can someone please give me some advice or even explain SSI benfits to me more because I know I have a biased, and dissapriving perspective on the matter.
