Advice needed please

Hi I am new on here so Hello.

I need advice please.......

I have a son of 24 who is autistic and living independantly with his fiance who is also autistic. They had a baby 9 weeks ago. Social services have been involved during the pregnancy and since baby was born. We have had lots of meetings where support and courses have been discussed but this has not happened. Baby is now in foster care while they decide if they are able to care for the baby. They have been told they have to complete an assessment but this is not happening. It's now gone to court where the first Judge wanted to send them to a family support unit where they would receive all the help and support they needed while this assessment was being done but the next Judge decided it was impractable. They are very stressed and confused and I am at my wits end  as to know what to do next as there is now talk of baby being put up for adoption but I don't feel they have been given the help and support they need and deserve.

Any help or support very welcome Thanks

  • I am sorry, your family is going through this ordeal and I totally understand the pressure these people put you and your famiiles in.

An assessment is required to be carried out by both parents to measure their performance on what they can and they cannot do when carring for their baby. Once, the report is done, the social services can then provide both parents with support.

Why is the baby in foster care? Is the baby hurt somehow? Why is this case going to courts? How did they come to conclussion and putting the baby into care when the assessment was not carried out and therfore on what basis they made that descision so I would suggest that you need to get a solictor invovled.

Also, medical evidence is needed by a GP or health profession stating that your son wants to be with his baby, it's becoming very depressed and sad with the action they taken. With medical evidence, this is vital to say he is able to do certain or most tasks! The judge / social workers will then look the medical notes and then hopefully allow the baby to be back to their parents.

If, the baby is going for an adaption for whatever reason, you can look after their baby for a period of time.

    Good Luck
