Mood All Over The Place

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask if anyone else experiences this? I woke up this morning in quite a good mood, accepting of the fact that I am most likely on the spectrum, and feeling quite calm and relaxed. Now, with the wind howling against the window constantly, yet sunny(I love to go out and relax in the garden when it's sunny, but it's just too windy today), and loud conversation going on downstairs I feel as if my anxiety levels are increasing and I don't feel nearly as stable and content as I did when I first got up.

If anyone else encounters unstable moods, constantly switching from calm and relaxed to really very anxious and irritable, often without warning, I would love to hear if anyone could please give me any tips on how to cope at times like this. Thanks for any advice that anyone can give me. It is much appreciated.

  • That's very good advice, thank you. I will certainly look into buying some in the very near future.

Yes, I feel like this sometimes. If you can exercise some choice and control over what you hear then this can help. I use a set of Audio Technica Quietpoint noise cancelling in-ear headphones (about £50) that

    a) significantly reduce the intrusive noise from elsewhere. It enables me to work in an open plan office where people are talking all round me.

    b) enable me to choose whether to listen to my noise or their noise

The choice element is important as I can choose to take control of my environment enough to make the difference. This makes me feel less vulnerable to what other people are doing.
