Any parents who are autistic?

Just wondering if there are any parents out there who are autistic?  I'm a reasonably new mum and find it tricky on a day-to-day basis to keep everything going.  My brain likes/needs order and structure and rules and black&white solutions to things, and being a mum doesn't easily marry with that.  Was wondering if there's anyone out there who's got ways of coping or who has found any useful support (HV's don't seem to understand that I need things explaining in a different way)  thnx :-)

  • Yes, I learnt a huge amount through the Attachment Parenting Community.  Some of the books are a real help as they go through things explaining the theory of how/why and leave it to you to work out how to interpret in your context.

There are a lot of things to learn in parenting, and they do have a logic and a theory behind them.  But it might not be the same kind of order/structure/rules that you're used to in your previous life context....
