Pursuing your aspirations!

Hi everyone,

I've been hassitant to post anything on this forum for nearly a month, due to lack of understanding and knowledge of how to approach members in this community, but here it goes!

I would first like to establish common ground for the intentions of this engagement I'm about to manifest in this discussion. I'm trying to uncover deeper insights about lifestyles of people with autistic personalities. I'm a design student and I'm interested in how might design enable people in pursuing their aspirations?

In regards of this topic the discussion should succeed in finding invaluable insights. So, I was wondering, how I might engage with people from this community to develop this project further?

To dilute any suspicion, or whatever, there's no commercial, explotative connotations to this project. This is my passion project in finishing my degree at Glasgow School of Art.

This means that I have chosen the topic upon my own interests. I'm a senior Product Designer from Latvia, Riga and I've been studying design for over three years now.

I decided to explore this subject, for one, because I believe it is possible with design to change peoples behaviors, rituals and routines for the benifit of individuals and society. Seccondly, I wanted to work with people to whom I could relate to personally, as it would help me to emhasize with the community.

Please, if you have any questions, whatsoever - do contact with me directly and I will be happy to talk to you and explain anything in details! I hope this is not confusing to anyone or upseting or distressing to anyone who reads this! Looking forward to hear from anybody. Thanks. Martins.

  • Hi, could it be you have Autistic traits yourself? Hence coming here to get people for your project?

You are not in the field of psychology, and therefore put of your depth, especially when talking about changing people's behaviours, rituals and routines. Do you know anything about Autism?

I do not understand why you want to be in the Autism community, unless you or a close friend has Autism. What makes you think you could possibly have an impact, on an area you know zero about.

It is very confusing why you are here.
