18th July was the first anniversary of the Government's Disability Confident programme.
It was to be celebrated by a "twitter thunderclap" on the day. I find it hard to find any reference to it now, but one report suggests half the respondents were individual Job Centres!
The website for Disability Confident was last updated 24th July. It looks like the scheme has died.
Yet the Coalition Government still pursues one of the most pernicious and inhumane persecutions of a vulnerable minority in British history.
OK Disability Confident was window dressing, to distract public attention from the atrocity. But you'd think they could have managed to keep up the charade for longer than a year.
I wondered if anyone has seen any signs of Disability Confident helping people on the autistic spectrum finding work. It is only fair to look for positive outcomes and see the best in the initiative. But I have a feeling it will prove to be a disappointment.
