Jackdaw approved, should Rosebank be too?

I feel mixed about more drilling in the North Sea and I don't like the idea of more extraction and the environmental impacts of fosil fuel use, but I can see that we need gas and that it's better to get it from closer to home, although it will only give us 2% of our gas.

I do not agree with Rosebank being opened, I get that with whats going on in the Middle East is a problem, but any oil thats extracted will be sold on the open market and will do nothing to the cost of domestic oil and petrol prices.

What say you folks?

  • Importing American LPG is more impactful on the environment because it has to be brought here on oil tankers and buying Norwegian natural gas is no better for the environment and worse for the UK's finances. Most of the homes in the UK are still heated by gas, so really being shrill about some extra gas from the North Sea is nonsensical in the short to medium term.
